Buffett's Berkshire reveals last fall's buying and selling

As it is required to do by the SEC, Berkshire Hathaway filed its 13-F for the fourth quarter of 2018, showing the U.S. publicly-traded stocks it held in its portfolio as of December 31, 2018.

• Biggest surprise: the sale of Berkshire's 41.4 million Oracle shares, worth over $2 billion, after the first appeared on Berkshire's list of holdings for the end of September. Given the speed of the turnaround, neither the purchase nor the sale were probably Buffett moves. 
  
  
• Berkshire slightly pared its Apple stake by around three million shares to under 250 million shares. Buffett's assistant told Reuters one of Berkshire's portfolio managers sold the shares "to make an unrelated purchase." She added, "None of the shares under Warren's direction have ever been sold."

Berkshire Hathaway Class A shares closed at $308,139 Friday, up 0.5% over the previous four weeks, and up 0.7% from one year ago.

Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares closed at $205.29, up 0.4% over the previous four weeks, and up 0.7% from one year ago.

The benchmark S&P 500 index closed at 2775.60, up 3.9% over the previous four weeks, and up 1.6% from one year ago.
