Netflix has renewed "Stranger Things" for a fourth season, the streaming service announced Monday. The '80s-set sci-fi phenomenon, which stars Millie Bobby Brown and Winona Ryder, released its well-received third season in July.

The announcement was accompanied by a teaser for the new episodes, although no word on an official release date or returning cast members, following a fan-favorite character's death last season. Will the Hawkins crew get sucked back into the world of the Upside Down? "We're not in Hawkins anymore," the teaser ominously reads.

Netflix has also signed the hit show's creators, Matt and Russ Duffer (aka The Duffer Brothers) to a multi-year film and series overall deal. Before "Stranger Things," which premiered in 2016, the Duffers wrote and produced on Fox's "Wayward Pines," and directed 2015 thriller "Hidden" starring Alexander Skarsgard.

Season 3 of the Netflix series follows the kids of Hawkins as they face a stronger version of the Mind Flayer and a new threat from the Soviets, playing up on the '80s influences and adding a few new faces to the cast of characters.
