Tesla has been on a seven week losing streak. Some stalwart bulls still believe in the company's vision of driverless cars and humanoid robots that take over factory jobs. But even the most bullish Wall Street analysts are now talking about how CEO Elon Musk's politics and work at the White House are impacting the desirability of Tesla for a large swathe of prospective customers. Musk, who is still the world’s wealthiest person, has become the public face of the Trump administration’s effort to dramatically reduce the federal government’s workforce, spending and capacity. Meanwhile, he continues to post incendiary political rhetoric on X, recently slamming judges whose decisions he doesn’t like, and promoting false Kremlin talking points about Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Concurrently, anti-Musk and anti-Tesla sentiment have been rising in the U.S. and Europe, with an outburst of protests and suspected criminal acts of arson and vandalism at Tesla facilities.... They're generally reserved for the ultrawealthy and financial institutions. But the exchange-traded fund industry is looking to give retail investors more access to alternative investments including private credit. BondBloxx's Joanna Gallegos thinks it's a great idea despite the asset class' reputation for charging high fees and academic research that have shown sluggish returns. Her firm launched the BondBloxx Private Credit CLO ETF (PCMM) about three months ago.

In honor of International Women's Day, The Economist released its annual glass-ceiling index which analyzes working conditions for women across the 29 countries in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The countries were ranked based on these ten measures: The United States failed to make the top 10 ranking — taking the no. 19 position on the list. It's something Lizzy Peet, data researcher at The Economist, says is not surprising, as America typically falls below the OECD average for each of the considered measures.

Many investors don't plan for future taxes when funneling money into a pre-tax 401(k) plan or an individual retirement account. While pre-tax 401(k) contributions lower your adjusted gross income for that tax year, you pay regular income taxes on future withdrawals. Many of these accounts are rolled over to traditional IRAs, which also trigger taxes upon distribution. But traditional IRAs are "the worst possible asset" for retirement savers and future wealth transfers, IRA expert Ed Slott said during a session this week at the Horizons retirement planning conference in Coronado, California.

It's becoming increasingly expensive to buy a new car. In fact, a record number of new-car buyers — nearly 1 in 5 — are making payments of $1,000 or more, according to Edmunds. For a household earning the U.S. median income of $80,610, a $1,000 car payment would take up 15% of pre-tax income, before factoring in the cost of insurance, gas or maintenance. It doesn't help that the average price of a new auto is nearly $50,000. And prices could climb even higher. With the looming possibility of 25% tariffs on cars and components from Mexico and Canada, new car costs could rise by as much as 12%, or $5,790, according to one estimate.

If you find yourself feeling tired, pressed for time or drained before the start of a new week, it's not by mere happenstance. "It's because the world is designed to steal your time and energy from social media to the crazy headlines that make you feel helpless, [to] endless work to-do lists," bestselling author Mel Robbins said on her self-titled podcast last week. Social media fatigue has risen in recent years, studies show, as mindless scrolling leads to mental exhaustion. The country's stagnant labor market can make work — or unemployment — particularly stressful, and waves of geopolitical news only add to the potential for emotional strain.
