President Donald Trump's forthcoming tariffs will take effect right after they are unveiled on Wednesday, the White House said. "My understanding is that the tariff announcement will come tomorrow. They will be effective immediately," press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday. "The president has been teasing this for quite some time," Leavitt said, noting that Trump has repeatedly hyped up April 2 as America's "liberation day."

AQR Capital Management's multistrategy hedge fund beat the market with a 9% rally in the first quarter as Wall Street grappled with extreme volatility amid President Donald Trump's uncertain tariff policy. The Apex strategy from Cliff Asness' firm, which combines stocks, macro and arbitrage trades and has $3 billion in assets under management, gained 3.4% in March, boosting its first-quarter performance, according to a person familiar with AQR's returns who asked to be anonymous as the information is private. AQR's Delphi Long-Short Equity Strategy gained 9.7% in the first quarter, while its alternative trend-following offering Helix returned 3%, the person said.

Fast-moving changes at the Social Security Administration by the Trump administration's so-called Department of Government Efficiency have prompted concerns that it may be more difficult for beneficiaries to access the agency's services. Some experts are raising concerns that efforts to update the agency's systems could impact the continuity of benefits.
