Let's go to the highlights Even without an in-person audience of thousands, Charlie Munger and his zingy one-liners, three journalists asking questions, and dozens of shareholders asking their questions, this year's streaming-only shareholders meeting ran 4 1/2 hours, only 30 minutes less than usual. Video of the entire session (in two parts) is now posted on CNBC's Warren Buffett Archive. A synchronized transcript will be added in the next few days.
For those with a little less time right now, here's a sneak peek of the "highlight reel" that will also be added to the Buffett Archive soon.
Some more highlight clips
Buffett lunch auction delayed This year's charity auction for lunch with Buffett will be delayed until later this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is typically held in the late spring.
Twenty years of annual auctions have raised almost $35 million for GLIDE in San Francisco, which works to "transform the lives of those hit hardest by poverty, food insecurity and homelessness."
Buffett's first wife, Susie, worked with GLIDE and helped start the auction in 2000.
Musk isn't Buffett's "biggest fan" In an appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast this week, Tesla's Elon Musk that while he isn't Buffett's "biggest fan," the Omaha billionaire's capital allocation does have value.
"That’s kind of a boring job if you ask me, but it’s still a thing that’s important to figure out."
In 2018, Musk criticized competitive "moats," a key part of Buffett's investing philosophy. He responded by saying that Musk is "trying to do something to improve a product and I salute him for that.”
Here's the Sam Nunn video Buffett highlighted During the meeting, Buffett lamented that a 2015 Nuclear Threat Initiative YouTube video in which Sam Nunn presciently warned, "Germs have no borders," had only 831 views.
If you had some trouble finding it, as I did, here it is: "Innovating an End to Pandemics."
As of now, it has 1,104 views.
