The major indexes were a mixed bag on Wednesday as the S&P 500 spent most of the day being close to flat, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite slid 0.6%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average picked up 90 points at the close, to post a record.
The real excitement today was in the institutional investor scene. Ark Invest’s Cathie Wood told CNBC’s Bob Pisani on Wednesday that she was snapping up more shares of Tesla.
“Our confidence in Tesla has grown as we’ve done research on what ride-sharing potentially could add,” she said. “It could limit the risks significantly, it’s a much more profitable business than electric vehicles.”
Following her comments, Tesla shares posted an intraday rebound and ended the day higher. 
Bitcoin also generated some excitement, hopping to new heights. The cryptocurrency cracked the $52,000 level this afternoon. Rick Rieder, BlackRock’s chief investment officer of global fixed income, told CNBC on Wednesday that the world's largest asset manager has “started to dabble a bit into it.”
Tesla, BNY Mellon and Mastercard are among the companies that have begun to embrace bitcoin, bolstering its legitimacy.
Thursday is looking busier, as the GameStop drama continues to play out – this time in a Congressional hearing. The Reddit trading star known as “Roaring Kitty,” along with Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and other players, will testify before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services. TOP NEWS
