Solar giants on different paths |
Two big solar names are moving in different directions after hours. Enphase Energy is down more than 10% after a big miss on guidance. At today’s close, the stock was already off by more than 37% year to date. First Solar, on the other hand, is higher in the extended session after beating on earnings and revenue. The company also announced its fifth U.S. factory. Shares have gained more than 30% in 2023. On Friday, CNBC’s Pippa Stevens will be covering both of those moves, and First Solar’s CEO Mark Widmar will be on "Squawk on the Street."

Boston Beer jumps on results |
Boston Beer is soaring in the extended session after smashing earnings estimates. The brewer also reaffirmed its full-year volume and earnings guidance. The stock has been a laggard this year, down 5% as of today’s close. Its larger rivals, like Molson Coors and Constellation Brands both hit 52-week highs in the last couple days and are firmly higher for the year. AB InBev is down around 3% this year.

Live Nation shares unmoved after big earnings |
Live Nation is having a muted response to a very strong earnings report, with the concert and ticketing giant topping estimates on earnings and revenue. CNBC earnings editor Robert Hum notes that it was Live Nation’s biggest EPS beat since late 2021 and its second-highest quarterly revenue figure ever. Concert demand remains strong and the company is optimistic that the party will continue going into next year. Shares are up 39% year to date and less than 3% from a 52-week high.

The stock is up nearly 350% in a week. That's a lot. It’s still just under $3 a share. The stock still down 28% year to date and 77% from the 52-week high. It’s getting more mentions by one metric on Reddit but still very far down on the list. The stock has heavy short interest, equaling 22% of outstanding shares.

After posting what many called a surprise return to profitability, Intel shares are up about 8% after hours. The stock is now up more than 40% in 2023 when including this evening’s after-hours jump.

The Euro STOXX 600 hit a new 52-week high today. In fact, it was an 18-month high.
The iShares MSCI Europe Financials ETF (EUFN) is up 5.5% in a month and 13.6% in 2023. Leading the way in the EUFN over the last month are EQT AB, Partners Group, Julius Baer Group, Banco Santander and Hargreaves Lansdown.

Chevron is down 4.4% over the past three months. Chevron’s dividend as of tonight is 3.8%.
In the past three months, Exxon Mobil is down about 10%. Exxon Mobil pays 3.5% as of tonight. West Texas Intermediate crude is up 6.6% in three months.

Procter & Gamble is down 2.8% in the past three months. The stock is paying a 2.5% dividend. Church & Dwight is down 1.4% in the past three months. The stock is paying 1.1%.
Colgate-Palmolive is down 1% over the past three months. The stock is paying a dividend of 2.5%.
